How this works
Each month the calculator adds the interest on every balance, pays the minimum on all of them, then throws every spare pound at one target debt. Snowball clears the smallest balance first, which gives you quick wins. Avalanche clears the highest interest rate first, which costs less overall.
As each debt is cleared its payment rolls into the next one, which is why the last few balances disappear far faster than the first.
